Our goal is to improve the lives of those around us.
And what better place to do that than right where people live? Our Wood Tops immediately become the focal point of the room, a place for family and friends to gather, to eat and drink, to laugh and share their lives.
As woodworkers, we love creating amazing works of art from the incredible variety of trees on this planet, and doing so in a form that people can interact with and touch on a daily basis. The modern kitchen is absolutely the heart of the home, and the texture and grain of wood can instantly make a room seem almost human to our eyes.
Since meeting almost 20 years ago, Schuyler Clark and JD Patterson have developed a reputation as two of Atlanta’s most talented and professional craftsmen. Against the Grain has sprung from their love of fine woodwork and their desire to form a company that exemplifies their sense of style and quality.

Over the years, their work has appeared in Architectural Digest and Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles, among others. They have worked on client’s homes across America, and have been specifically requested for jobs in the Caribbean, Europe, Africa, and Asia.
